Write for Us
Are you interested in writing for a public audience? Do you want to explore how knowledge of the Civil War era informs our understanding of twenty-first-century politics and society? We created Muster as a space for researchers, professors, and public historians who study the Civil War era to address the issues and questions that dominate our field today.
We accept pop culture reviews (over films, fiction, etc.), pedagogical reflections and advice, thoughts about sharing history with a public audience, and short articles exploring intersections between the Civil War era and our present world. We especially welcome posts that connect with and make use of our print journal.
Posts average 1,100-1,300 words, including up to three images, and are footnoted in Chicago style. Please download our PDF of guidelines for publishing on Muster. You may direct questions and post submissions to the Digital Media Editor, Hilary Green, at higreen@davidson.edu. Please include “Muster Submission” in the email’s subject line.
